  THE PEPTIDES

Kambo contains over 100 different peptide combinations. The major peptides that have been identified in Kambo so far are:

Phyllocaerulein - a neuropeptide that produces strong smooth muscle contraction, reduces blood pressure, modifies satiety, sedation and thermoregulation. Stimulates the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland, providing greater sensory perception. It is also a strong analgesic.

Phyllokinin (Bradykinins Family) – Strong vasodilator. Important peptide of scientific study that is hypotensive, and increases vascular permeability (due to contraction of the non-vascular smooth muscle). Increases the permeability of the blood-brain barrier. Also related to the mechanism of inflammatory pain, and possesses antifungal and antimicrobial properties.

Phyllomedusin (Tachykinins Family) – A neuropeptide with powerful vasodialator effects. Produces contraction at the smooth muscle level. Stimulates gastric secretions. Effects the salivary glands, tear ducts, intestines and bowels.

Dermorphin (Sauvagine Family) – This heptapeptide produces powerful opiate-like activity on mu-type opioid receptors, which have potent depressive and analgesic effects (pain relief) that is 30-40 times more potent than Morphine. Dermorphin may also have effects on pulmonary ventilation and pituitary hormone release.

Dermaseptin (Dermaseptin Family) –  A potent antimicrobial peptide which is deadly to a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, yeasts, protozoa, and enveloped viruses as well as various filamentous fungi that are responsible for severe opportunistic infections accompanying AIDS and the use of immunosuppresive agents.  Adenoregulin (also named Dermaseptin B2) is a 33 chain amino acid peptide that interacts with the adenosine receptor, a fundamental component in all human cell fuel and has ben shown effectiveness in killing cancer cells.Several years of research carried out at the University of Paris have shown that Dermaseptin and Dermaseptin B2 are effective in killing certain types of cancer cells.

Tryptophilins – Neuropeptides made of 4 to 14 amino acids, which are providing more up new perspectives on how the human brain works. Also found to be highly potent against yeast Candida Albicans.

Phyllolitorin  [Leu8], Rohdei-Litorin (Bombesins Family) – Neuropeptides that are active in the central and peripheral nervous system which stimulate the secretion of hydrochloric acid, also increase pancreatic secretion, and smooth muscle contraction.

Deltorphin - Heptapeptide that has a higher affinity and selectivity for delta opiod binding sites than any other natural compound known.
